As a friend once said to me, Berlin is a city full of “ghosts”.
The buildings are riddled with bullet holes nearly 70 years ago… a testament to the scars the Second World War has left on all of us.
Around every corner there are life lessons to be learned. And if you’re particularly sensitive to these symbols they can truly impact you in many different areas of your life.
Along the Spree River, a section of what remains of the Berlin Wall still stands. Now a memorial to the city’s history, it still has a powerful effect.
The “Wall” symbol, although perhaps an obvious one, wasn’t lost on me as I contemplated the struggles and ingenious determination that some Berliners had gone through trying to scale it.
Yet somehow, standing in front of the Berlin Wall, I found myself reflecting on my Internet Marketing Business (ya ok, I’m a little obsessed!).
I couldn’t help but think (oh dear… now I feel like Carrie Bradshaw):
“What about the walls that we build around ourselves that prevent us from leading the lives of our dreams?”
We spend most of our time unhappily living on one side of this “Wall” only fantasizing about how our lives could be if we could only get to the other side. We know that everything we ever dreamt of is right there on the other side waiting for us, all we have to do it GET TO WORK knocking through it. Yet somehow we never get started!
The Berlin Wall is a solemn symbol of the “Razor’s Edge”… a kind of razorblade that separates two completely opposing worlds and by its very nature is difficult to scale. If you remember, the Wall was built to seperate the “West” (the land of abundance and opportunity) from the “East” (the land of scarcity and control).
Have you perhaps built your own Berlin Wall around you?
Are you unhappily living in the “East”?
What are your dreams? What are your goals?
How would living in the “West” make your life better and how would you feel about yourself once you made it there?
More importantly, what is preventing you from starting work on your Internet Marketing Business today if you already know that your business is your vehicle to a better life?
As the Katha-Upanishad (a philosophical Hindu text) says:
“The sharp edge of a razor is difficult to pass over; thus the wise say the path to Salvation is hard.”
But it also says:
“Arise, awake, and learn by approaching the exalted ones.”
Remember that you are never alone. If you truly desire breaking through that Wall and experiencing for yourself all the wonderful things that life has to offer, all you need is to find someone who has already escaped to the “West”.
Last year, I finally managed to escape from my hand-to-mouth existence in the “East”. Luckily, I still have my toolbox filled with the exact tools and the blueprint of the escape route I used to free myself… and I am willing to throw that toolbox over the Wall to you so that you can escape to the “West” too! It will be hard work… but with my flashlight guiding you, you will see the correct path to take.
So don’t be scared to start your business today! Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Just have the end goal in sight and trust that you will find the right way to your dream with the help of others.
Freedom is priceless!

If you have ever visited Berlin, you might have noticed this prominent mural standing proudly on the side of an old building in the Kreuzberg area.
Hidden away behind other buildings and only accessible when entering a disused lot, it reveals itself when one crosses the Oberbaumbruecke (a major bridge that crosses the Spree river which flows through Berlin).
It is thus that this mural came to my attention.
It’s powerful message struck me instantly and I was immediately inspired to share it with all of you.
I can’t think of a more fitting image to express the ideas and values that I try to instill in my team members and in other Internet Marketers on a daily basis.
The message (put in an Internet Marketing Business context) is clear and simple:
“Start your business with the sole focus of raking in loads of money fast & you’ll watch as your business stalls and becomes your shackle.”
It is essential as a “New Era Entrepreneur” (I might have just coined that!) that we break away from the old tarnished and negative image people have of the greedy Entrepreneur.
The “New Era Entrepreneur” is someone who provides value to others first. Someone who is genuinely interested in helping others succeed and reaching their goals. Someone who gets such great satisfaction from assisting others that this is his/her greatest reward.
To quote a great book entitled “Go-Givers Sell More” by Bob Burg and John David Mann:
“Shifting your focus from getting to giving is not only a nice way to live life and conduct business, but also a very profitable way as well. Put another way, living with generosity creates a swelling tide that raises all ships. Not just yours; not just the other person’s; everyone’s. Being a giving person, as it turns out, is not just an agreeable idea; it’s also quite practical. People who grasp and live the principles of giving not only live happier and more fulfilled lives, they are also among the most successful people we know. Go-givers really do sell more.”
