Video Marketing 101 _ Review of the “FLIP” Video Camcorder

It’s more important than ever to have video presence on the internet if you are serious about marketing your online home-based business.

More than 30 billion videos are watched every month in the United-States alone. Videos now comprise 60% of all web traffic. These video surfers also happen to be a highly desirable demographic for your business as:

  • 71% are employed
  • 15% are students
  • Their Average Income is $75,000
  • Almost 50% are married
  • 70% are college educated

Can you imagine the possibilities for your internet business if you harnessed the full potential of Video Marketing!?!

Once you have a camcorder, videos are free to make and to distribute. So you are effectively generating unlimited FREE traffic!

There’s no doubt that video marketing should become an integral part of your marketing campaign.

Create as many how to videos, review videos, instructional videos as possible. Answer the viewer’s questions, educate the viewer, tell the viewer what to do next…

To harness the power of online video to drive traffic, generate leads and convert to sales, I would recommend distributing your videos to as many video distribution sites as possible; such as YouTube.com, Photobucket.com, Esnips.com, Spike.com, Vidilife.com, etc…

TrafficGeyser.com is a great service I use that distributes my videos to 23 different video distribution sites for a small monthly fee. You will also find hundreds of hours of incredibly indepth training on Video Marketing by Mike Koenigs, the founder of Traffic Geyser, in the back office.

REVIEW OF THE “FLIP” VIDEO CAMCORDER

The FLIP video recorder is a device no bigger than a Blackberry phone. Plus It only has 4 buttons:

  • On/Off switch
  • Record
  • Play (with zoom in / zoom out, volume up/down features)
  • Delete

To be honest that’s all you’ll need. If you’re just interested in recording an idea you have really quickly (as soon as an idea pops in to your mind) and getting it out on the net as soon as possible, the FLIP is perfect for you.

The most brilliant feature of the FLIP is the built in USB key that just “flips” out (hence the name) from the side of the camcorder at the press of a button.

In that way, you are always ready to transfer your videos to your computer. You’ll never lose another USB cable in the bottom of a drawer or have to drag a knotted cable with you on holiday again in case you need to download your videos to your computer.

The FLIP can store up to 60 minutes worth of videos. The picture quality is really impressive and with great contrast as well.

Sixty minutes of recording time is more than enough as your videos should never be more that 2-3 minutes long. YouTube won’t allow videos over 10 minutes to be posted anyways. Therefore, even if you did make a series of long 10 minute videos, you could still fit 6 videos in before you would need to transfer the files to your computer.

When you plug the FLIP in to your computer for the first time, its built-in software automatically downloads on to your computer. Within seconds you are ready to edit your video on an extremely simple, dare I say idiot-proof, editing program.

There is however one negative comment I’d like to make regarding the camcorder and that is that the record bottom on my camera can be a little difficult to engage when I’m ready to start or end filming. I don’t know whether it’s just a case of my device being faulty or whether this is a common problem with the camcorders.

However, if you do happen to capture some fiddly moments at the beginning or end of a clip they are more than easy to cut out in the editing process.

When it comes to electronic gadgets I refuse to deal with anything complicated…and the FLIP is definitely not complicated. Heck…it doesn’t even come with a manual! It couldn’t be more perfect for an internet marketers needs.

Best of all it’s really affordable. So if you can’t afford to buy a real camcorder yet, you can still start making videos for less than $150.

You can check out the FLIP for yourself at http://www.theflip.com

As a marketer I have found this device extremely useful and user-friendly. If it can help you get your video ideas out there quickly and easily too, then it makes me happy to recommend it to you.

How To Increase Results In Your Online Home-Based Business

Leverage is defined as a strategic advantage or the power to act effectively.  In business terms, it is the use of various financial instruments or borrowed capital, to increase the potential return of an investment.

With regards to your home-based online business, it is the power to get the most out of yourself…  to make the most of your strengths and abilities by utilising other people’s abilities which are complementary to your own.

Leverage allows you to achieve more than you ever thought you could.   It is largely responsible for the success of everyone from Donald Trump to the Internet Marketing Industry’s top producers.

There are 7 different types of Leverage you should develop in your internet marketing business.

OTHER PEOPLE’S KNOWLEDGE

Leveraging other people’s knowledge can save you weeks, if not months of hard toil…  not to mention a lot of money.

Sometimes just one piece of information can make a substantial difference in your business results.

Successful internet marketers are like sponges.  They are constantly scouring different information sources looking for ideas that will help them achieve their goals faster.

Make it a habit to always be looking for valuable insight for your business in books, audio books, magazines, online, conferences, etc…

Another great way to leverage other people’s knowledge is by working closely with your business mentor, i.e someone who has already achieved the results you wish to have, or any other successful business person you might know.

Use what they know to propel you forward!

OTHER PEOPLE’S ENERGY

Successful internet marketers are not afraid to delegate (or outsource) less important business tasks to other people.

This leaves the marketer more time to concentrate on the 20% of business activities that contribute to 80% of the value of the work (i.e. the highest payoff).

Instead of trying to master and be perfect in every area of your internet business why not outsource the tasks you are less good at or like to least to someone who already has those skills?  This could save you years of training and ultimately a lot of money.

Think of ways you can use other people’s energy to help maximise your own productivity in your marketing business.

OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY

This is a great one!

Developing your ability to borrow someone else’s money in order to accomplish goals which you couldn’t have achieve if you had saved up and invested your own money is very powerful.

Successful people always look for opportunities to borrow and invest money.  If you invest with someone else’s money, your Return On Investment (or ROI) is infinite as you have never invested any of your own money.  Your returns will be well beyond the cost of that money.

Robert Kiyosaki has talked extensively of the power of leveraging other people’s money in his “Rich Dad Poor Dad” series of books.

OTHER PEOPLE’S SUCCESSES

Studying the successes of the Top Producers in your online marketing business can save you a lot of time and trouble in the refinement of your marketing campaigns.

Those Top Producers, by paving the way before you, have normally paid the price in money, frustration and disappointment before achieving their current position in their companies.

Why go through it yourself?  Find out what they did to achieve their goals and copy their system.

OTHER PEOPLE’S FAILURES

Learning from other people’s failures is just as important as learning from other people’s successes.

Some of the greatest successes in history have come from studying other people’s failures!

Here’s a great example about how to learn from someone’s mistake.  Mike Koenigs creator of Traffic Geyser, a video distribution company used by top online marketers, once confided that he had make a 10 year mistake that had cost him $10million.  That mistake was that he had forgotten to ask his customers to make testimonial videos or comments after they had purchased his products and services.  Mike reckons he could have earned $10million more had he remembered to do that simple task.  He is now trying to catch up all those years, and money, lost.

OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

Sometimes all you need to start your fortune is one good idea!

The more you expose yourself to good content about your online business the more chances you will have of coming across an idea that once coupled with a certain ability of yours can become very profitable for you.

You might see an opportunity where others might not see one, because you have the necessary skills to accomplish it.

By constantly learning, discussing, reading and experimenting the more likely you will come across an idea that might spark your imagination and thus make you very rich.

Conditions might be changing now, but for the last four decades, the Japanese

were known as the leaders in quality manufactured products.

In fact, what they were actually doing was leveraging the ideas of the Americans (electronics, automotives and other goods).   By improving on american ideas with their quality manufacturing and methodology, they quickly elevated themselves to an incredible leadership position.

OTHER PEOPLE’S CONTACTS

With this type of leverage, it’s not what you know but who you know.

Being introduced to just one key person can change the entire direction of your online business, and hence your life, forever.

Whom do you know who can introduce you to someone who can make a great website or video for your business for free or little money?  Whom do you know who can lend you the money needed to invest in a business opportunity?  Who do you know who can help elevate your internet business to new heights?

*Tip_  There now exists online social media networks, such as LinkedIn, which help you reconnect with acquaintances and map out all of your respective contacts. This enables you to locate people within your network of friends, whom you might not have know of otherwise, who have certain skills you might be interested in leveraging.

So now that you know the 7 types of leverage available to you in your online marketing business, set out to work as effectively and productively as possible with the help of others.

See you at the top!

How To Use The 50/10 Rule To Increase Productivity In Your Online Marketing Business

A common reason why currently unsuccessful Online Marketers don’t generate the results that they are hoping for in their home-based marketing business is that they lack the routine required to complete their daily marketing tasks.

They find themselves vacillating between a variety of different marketing strategies throughout any given working hour…never knowing how to crunch down and get one task finished.  At the end of the work week, the look back at their progress and sadly realize that the quantity and quality of work is unsatisfactory.

If this is true for you, the problem isn’t that you lack the determination to become successful in your internet marketing business.  Chances are you were just never taught how to create a routine which would maximise your productivity levels in your home office.

Very early on in my marketing career, I was shown a simple yet highly effective trick which helps combat such lack of direction.

This trick is a simple structure used by all of us Top Producers in the Internet Marketing Industry.  Working within this structure dramatically transformed my business overnight.

The trick is that we stick to something called the 50/10 rule when working.

Begin by determining what marketing strategy you will work on and for how long.   Say for example, you’ve set three hours aside today to work exclusively on Article Marketing.

You would then apply the 50/10 rule to that three hour block.  This means that for every 50 minutes of focussed hard work you will do, you will follow it with a 10 minute break.

Now some of you might be thinking “I don’t need to work in 50 minute blocks!  I can push on and work 3-4 hours non-stop!”

Can you really?

Studies have proven over and over again that it takes much less than 50 minutes of focussed work for our brains to dramatically slow down.  Have you ever found yourself trying to write the same article for hours with very little progress?  That’s because whether you feel it or not, you’re brain can no longer focus.  You are tired.

Continuing to work long hours without any breaks for weeks on end is your fastest route to a burn-out.

By sticking to the 50/10 rule you will avoid wearing yourself out and becoming too tired to continue producing quality work throughout the day.

This is how to put the 50/10 rule in to action:

1_ You will begin by buying yourself an inexpensive digital kitchen timer; one that counts down in time.  I use a brand called Salter.  You can purchase one on amazon.com for around $12.

2_ You will set the timer to 50 minutes.

3_ At the top of the hour you will start the timer.

4_ You now have 50 minutes to complete a marketing task (i.e. writing an article, creating a Google campaign, creating a video, …)  It doesn’t matter if you haven’t finished your task after 50 minutes.  Save your work and get up from your desk when the 50 minutes is up.

5_ You now have 10 minute to re-energize.  Spend the first 5 minutes of your break getting some fresh air (take a walk around your block for example). For the last 5 minutes, do some relaxation or breathing exercises.  It’s important that you get some oxygen as it will revitalise you and prepare you for your next block of work.  Don’t forget to get a drink of water during your break to rehydrate.

6_ When your 10 minute break is over, reset your timer to 50 minutes and start steps 2-5 over again until you complete your day’s work.

It’s really that simple!  This tip might seem like an insignificant gimmick to you now, but I dare you to try it out for yourselves.

Until I bought myself a kitchen timer, I could spend days writing an article.  I lacked direction and was tired from working for hours non-stop.

However, the first day I used the timer, I managed to finish 3 articles and 2 press releases in one afternoon.

The reason this trick works is that the kitchen timer becomes your accountability device.  Internet Marketers often work alone, isolated in their home-office with no one to account to.  The timer will set your deadlines for you.  You will notice how much faster and more focussed your work will become when you see that timer counting down.

As mentioned earlier, all the Top Producers in my company use this trick.  Why don’t you try it out too and run with it to the road to success
